Zumba to a new lifestyle

I always felt like a workout shouldn’t be a boring routine. I tried Zumba with some friends and loved it. With Zumba, a workout isn’t even a workout but more like a dance party. Zumba classes are offered in studios inside of gyms. You will have to sign up for classes through a fitness center and depending on what gym you go to will determine the price.  The classes play loud, upbeat music and are usually always with a group.  Regardless of your level of fitness, Zumba will emphasize movement to the music.


I love to do Zumba with a friend and all you need is some music and an open area to dance. I remembered some of the dance moves to certain songs, but you can always make up your moves. You can also watch Youtube videos of Zumba dances and work out at home instead of driving to the gym. Some good benefits include:

  • Calorie and fat burning:  In a Zumba class the average person will burn around 600 to 1,000 calories. The class can go from slow movement to fast pace which can burn some calories. Fitness moves are incorporated in Zumba dances with a set of push-ups or doing squats with some high jumps.
  • Mood-boosting:  A good way to get rid of stress is to go to Zumba class to release it all. The upbeat music brings out a type of vibe in the room that will favor the release of those mood endorphins. Especially if you do it with a friend.
  • It’s social: You will meet some fun people in Zumba class. Usually, the classes will be two or three times a week. Bringing a friend or family member will also help interaction and motivation.
